The Accusations of Marmaduke, A Negro Slave Sheweth -

Gloucester ss
THAT that ye above Named Negro Slave, Marmaduke on the
Sixteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven H
hundred & thirty Eight in the Eleventh year of the Reign of King
George the Second etc at Watorford in the County of Gloucester in
the province of New Jersey did attempt to kill John Collins of Sd.
County Yeom. and of his Majesty's Leige people, & in ye, Sd. At-
tempt, with a Certain Instrument called a knife did Grievously wound
the Sd. John Collins in the left arm of his body, & in his face, &
other harme then & there did, by Reason whereof the life of Sd. John
Collins was Dispairod of - - - And also, that ye Sd. negro Slave
Marmaduke the time & place above Said did attempt to kill Daniel
Garratt one of his 3d, Majesty's Leige people, & in the Sd. At-
tempt did Grievously wound the 3d. Daniel Garratt in the back with
the Sd. knife and other harme to him then & there also did against
the peace of the Sd. Lord the King and Contrary to an Act of General
Assembly of the ye sd. - - - province in Such cases Lately made &
provided &c.
